Cardston town council had a fair share of business items pass through their hands at their regular meeting.
The first was the Tax Installment Payment Program (TIPP) interest rate review. It is not listed what the interest rate was beforehand, however, it was carried that the TIPP interest rate for 2022/2023 be raised to 1.25 per cent.
Next up came Tax Sale which is slated to take place Aug. 16, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. on Plan 3179FR, Block 17 and Lots 20 and 21. The Tax Sale was moved with the terms that the reserve bid be set at $201,710 and that payment will either be made by cash, certified cheque, bank draft or money order. GST will apply to land that is sold at the public auction. This motion was carried.
A motion was considered for an Alberta transportation Engagement Resolution that related to slowing and diverting large truck traffic away from the main street of Cardston. It was moved that council, “direct administration to engage with Alberta Transportation to commence an analysis of what could be done pursuant to existing regulations to slow and divert large truck traffic from main street, and enforce compliance in an effort to enhance public safety.”
One bylaw request passed through councils hands, relating to a Land Use Bylaw Amendment for Bylaw 1647J however it was decided by council to table the resolution until September.
In closed session council discussed a Land Option, a Contract and Business Proposal and an Inter-municipal Matter.
