Roosters Country Marketplace, our local Magrath grocery store, recently coordinated an event where Magrath Elementary School children decorated brown paper grocery bags.
Roosters then sold the decorated bags, collecting over $800 and then adding their own donation to give to the Community Food Pantry, powered by SASH: Disability Support, with a $1000 donation.
The Community Food Pantry is a local service which provides free hampers with food and personal hygiene items to anyone who needs some extra support. The Pantry is run by the good folks at SASH: Disability Support who provide community and engagement opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.
The individuals love helping the community, and the Pantry provides a great way for them to reach out and connect.
The Community Food Pantry is available to anyone in the Magrath community or surrounding area struggling with the weight of financial pressures and rising food costs.
Pantry food and supply hampers are available during the week (Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. or by appointment) with a limit of one per month.
We want to recognize Roosters Country Marketplace for creating this initiative that will help drive awareness and change. They are a great example of inspiring others to make a difference. Similarly, Magrath Elementary School has been a fantastic support and suggested we make this an annual event.
