Zeniths take narrow loss in weekend tournament

Over the weekend the Magrath Varsity Zenith basketball team were busy at the Chinook High Tournament.

During the first game, against familiars the Stirling Lakers, the Zeniths came out on top, almost 20 points ahead, with a win of 92 to 77. Shots scored went to Carter Hansen 22 points, Derek Strate 13, Scott Gieske 13 and Austin Bennett with 12 points.

The team moved on to game two against LCI, beating them by a narrow 10 points, 94 to 84. Shots scored were by Tim McMahon with 23, Derek Strate who had 17 points and nine assists, Scott Gieske who scored 17, Carter Hansen with 14 and Austin Bennett with 13.

During the championship game the Zeniths took a tough loss to to the host team, 80 to 65. Derek Strate led the scoring with 18 points, followed by Tim McMahon with 13, Carter Hansen with 11 and Scott Gieske with 10.
