The Southern Alberta 4A Boys Basketball League got back underway Tuesday night, as Magrath and Raymond both hit the court.
Magrath improved to 8-1 on the season with a 105-64 victory over Medicine Hat, while Raymond boosted its league record to 7-1 with a 101-83 win over Lethbridge Collegiate Institute.
The schedule picks up this month with a Valentine’s day contest for the Comets, as Raymond will head to Lethbridge on Feb. 14 to take on the Chinook Coyotes.
The Zeniths do not see the floor in league play again until Feb. 24, which will see Magrath and Cardston do battle.
In Southern Alberta Girls Basketball League play, Magrath will host Catholic Central on Feb. 14, and Raymond will host LCI on Feb. 23.
The Comets lead the league with a perfect 8-0 record, while Magrath is close behind at 6-1.
As for the Deep South Basketball league, things are coming down the homestretch, as the schedule for the 2023 Boys League Championships has been released.
Play kicked off Wednesday as the No. 2 Stirling Lakers took on No. 7 Willow Creek Composite High School. A Lakers victory in the opening round would put Stirling in the semifinal on Feb. 15 against the winner of No. 3 Coaldale Christian and No. 6 Immanuel Christian Secondary School.
The final is set for March 1.
Stirling finished the regular season with a 5-2 record.
In girls play, Stirling will host Picture Butte tonight in a senior varsity game. The Lakers will then host Immanuel Christian on Feb. 16 in another SV tilt.
