Magrath U18 team continues to lead division in CAHL play

The weather may be extremely cold but on the ice, local teams tried to get hot on the weekend in Central Alberta Hockey League action.

On the U11 circuit, Raymond did its part to heat up the rink with a 4-3 win over Redcliff on Sunday. Cooper Rodeback led the way with three goals, while Brixden Manning picked up a single. William Clark added an assist and Jordan Schmidt made 29 saves in net for the victory.

Magrath’s U11 squad continued to roll with a 16-1 thrashing of Picture Butte on Saturday. Cody Beier had seven points on three goals and four assists and Tymen Allsop lit the lamp four times. Davyn Gillam had two goals and one assist, as Weston Odland and Liam Standford both had two-goal games. Beckett Balderson and Andrew Woolf each had a goal and an assist, while Nik Wood added two helpers. Braden Standford scored once and Heagan Mohr and Kacey Blackmore added one assist each. Raylan Owens made 16 saves to pick up the win.

Sunday’s game was much closer, as Magrath earned a 4-2 win over Pincher Creek. Beier and Liam Standford had two goals each, as single assists were recorded by Blackmore, Gillam, Braeden Standford, Maverick Retzer and Emmeline Brown. Allsop stopped 19 shots for the victory.

In U13 competition, Magrath battled to a 3-3 draw with Okotoks in a Saturday contest. Levi Zobell and Trigger Heggie led Magrath with a goal and an assist each, as Kashton Johnson also scored. Lane Smith added one assist, as Kalani Purcell was in goal.

It was a two-win weekend for the U15 team out of Magrath, as things started Saturday with a 4-1 win over Okotoks, thanks to Tason Heath’s two goals. Jaxton Rodeback added a goal, as single assists were credited to Lilly Rodeback and Levi Harker. Nate Nelson made 38 saves in goal.

On Sunday, Magrath squeaked out a 4-3 win over Indus, as Easton Fraser had two goals, and Nixon Barnett and Jaxton Rodeback recorded single markers. Bronson Ripley and Cohen Brady Michel both had one assist each. Nelson earned the victory in goal.

Magrath continues to lead the U18 Tier 3 Blue Division standings, as the team put another win on the board in the form of an 8-2 result Saturday against Foremost. Beaue Beier (two goals, one assist) and Joseph Noad and Ethan Hendrickson (one goal, two assists each) led the way with three-point efforts. Knox Tame scored twice and Gage Nelson added two assists. Kyson Johnson and Adam Chipman had the other goals.

Makoy Mehew and Ty Godlonton had one assist each. Kohlman Blackmore earned the win in goal thanks to his 23-save performance.
