During a Special Council Meeting on November 24, Raymond Town Council discussed an opportunity they have to partner with the Town of Hanna to submit an Alberta Community Partnership Grant for up to $200,000.
“We’ll be using this funding to pilot an online development permit software program for use in communities our size,” said Town of Raymond Chief Administrative Officer Kurtis Pratt.
Pratt said that the company who provides the software is submitting the applications on behalf of the Town of Raymond and the Town of Hanna, and that a one-year free trial of the software will be a perk that both communities will receive.
“We’re happy to be a part of that opportunity where we can potentially have our residents have a more streamlined process to apply for and receive approvals for development permits,” said Pratt. “And we’re happy to be the lead community submitting the application.”
Council held a brief discussion about the application. Within that discussion, it was confirmed that the matter was also discussed in the Finance Committee meeting, and the grant should cover all of the implementation costs, as well as a few years of the service fee of the software, so that the Town could test it out and become comfortable with it.
Ultimately, Councillor Johnnson made a motion that the Town of Raymond partner with the Town of Hanna to submit an Alberta Community Partnership Grant for up to $200,000. The motion was carried.
