Playoff action begins throughout the Central Alberta Hockey League

It’s playoff time in the Central Alberta Hockey League, and local teams are front and centre.

The Magrath U11s will begin the second season with a series against Brooks, set to kick off Saturday in Magrath. It all wraps up Sunday in Brooks.

Raymond awaits the winner of that series.

On the U13 front, Raymond is on to the next round after a sweep of Taber.

Raymond took game one 6-5, as Jesse Wilde led the way with a goal and two assists. Cooper Rodeback and Michael Bevens each scored twice, while Karl Russell Jr. added one goal.

Jordan Schmidt made 33 saves and picked up the win.

Game two was not as close, as Raymond rolled by a count of 11-3.

Bevans scored six times and assisted on two others, while Russell Jr. Scored twice and picked up five helpers. Greyson Court had a goal and an assist and Brixton Manning had two assists. Wilde and Casey VandenHoek also scored, while Rodeback had an assist. Schmidt made 24 saves to secure the victory.

Magrath was not as fortunate, as the team fell 3-1 in game one to Foothills, and then mustered a 4-4 draw in game two.

Kashton Johnson had the lone goal in the first contest, assisted by Payke Bates, as Tymen Allsop made 33 saves in goal.

In game two, Carter Juhasz scored twice, while both Gibson and Payke Bates had one goal each. Single helpers were recorded by Johnson, Ty Mehew, Braeden Stanford and Liam Standford. Allsop made 37 saves.

Raymond’s U15s swept Redcliff in round one, as a series kicked off with a 3-0 shutout, authored by Kalani Purcell, who made 40 stops.Kraden Heath, Finley Court and Jaxton Rodeback had the goals, while Lane Smith and Owen Stanford had one assist each.

Raymond took game two by a 5-1 score, as Smith led the way with a goal and two assists. Heath scored twice, while Rodeback had a snipe and a helper. Trigger Heggie added a goal, while single assists were credited to Hayes Hill, Cooper Lutz, Levi Zobell and Pete Schneyder. Dayton Black Water made 17 saves for the win.

Magrath U18 squad ended the regular season in first place with a 15-1 record, after a 20-2 win on Saturday over Kainai.

Eastin Fraser scored seven times, while Ty Godlonton had two goals and two assists. Clay Christensen added a goal and two helpers, as Beau Beier picked up three assists. Mason Mehew, Ryder Harrison and Logan Jensen all had two-goal games, while Bronson Ripley and Colton Olson both recorded a goal and an assist. Tason Heath and Adam Chipman also scored, while Levi Harker picked up an assist. Evan Bezooyen and Kohlman Blackmore split duties in net.
