Raymond orders fire ban

Bylaw 968-10, Care of Boulevards and Lanes

Restrictions have been placed to prevent parking on boulevards. People who are currently parking on the boulevard, and have made improvements to the parking area, will be permitted to continue parking there, provided they complete an application with the town’s Development Officer. People who continue to park on the boulevard without approval will be contacted by the Peace Officers to either complete the application with the Town, or to cease parking on the boulevard. Please contact the town Development office if you have any questions.

Bylaw 1048-17, Dangerous and Unsightly Property

There were several amendments to this bylaw. The most significant change, however, is that people are now limited to two derelict or unregistered vehicles and those vehicles must be in the back yard. For many, compliance to this provision will be a significant undertaking. Council is preparedto give homeowners time to remedy their properties. Please contact the Peace Officers if you have questions about these amendments, how to go about cleaning up your property, and the expected timeline for cleanup.

Fire Restrictions

Fire Chief Holt has issued a fire restriction (ban) for the Town of Raymond due to Covid-19. With warmer weather approaching, we are restricting campfires to encourage social distancing. You may have a small campfire on your own private property with immediate family only. Perett Park remains closed. No neighborhood or large groups please. We would ask that you please observe physical distancing guidelines, and maintain 2 metre distance from each other. #flattenthecurve 

Council Live Stream

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no members of the public will be permitted to attend council meetings in person until further notice.

However, Council and Council Committee meetings will be live-streamed on the Town of Raymond’s YouTube channel, Townofraymondvideos. The stream will begin approximately 10 minutes before the meeting is scheduled to begin.

Council will decide after the restrictions have been lifted if they will continue streaming the meetings.

Council Meeting Briefs April 7

Ridge Fire Services Commission: The Town of Raymond and County of Warner are applying to Municipal Affairs for commission status for the Raymond Fire Department. Council made several motions that are required for the commission application.

Capital Spending Plan 2020-2024: Council approved the Five-Year Capital Spending Plan.

COVID-19 Decisions: Council waived interest charges on all outstanding accounts receivables, municipal property taxes and municipal utilities until January 1, 2021. Council also approved the cancellation of the Southern Alberta Summer Games and set May 5 as the date to decide on closing the Aquatic Centre and cancelling July 1 festivities.
