I want to thank all the constituents of Cardston-Siksika for your actions in fighting COVID-19. Due to your strength, courage, and resilience, Alberta’s Government is proud to announce we will be re-opening schools in September.
We know how hard this pandemic has been on our province and all Albertans, and thanks to the hard work of Albertans, our province has navigated this pandemic far better than other large population provinces.
The comprehensive school re-entry plan for the upcoming school year puts the health of all students, teachers, and staff first. When students return to classes, schools will be implementing health measures such as frequent surface cleaning, placing hand sanitizers at entrances in classrooms, grouping students in cohorts, and planning school days to allow for social distancing. Further, anyone coming into the school will have to fill out a self-screening questionnaire to determine whether or not they can enter the premises.
I know that everyone in the school system will do their part to keep our students, teachers, and staff safe and healthy. As a province, if we continue to work together, we can open the doors to schools once again safely. Children need us to look out for their future, that means we must get those that learn best in school back in the classroom to give them the education and support they need to succeed.
Our comprehensive school re-entry plan will allow for a successful return to school while continuing to protect the health and safety of our students, teachers and education staff.
