Cardston County council discussed potential upgrades to their council chambers during their regular Sept. 28 meeting.
After the pandemic hit, municipal council had to find other ways to meet and hold meetings. County council discovered their current technology was not up to the task.
“We found that with COVID-19, our current system cannot handle the amount of video conferencing that is now required,” said Randy Bullock, reeve of Cardston County. “In addition, we have recently had several 15 year-old pieces of equipment fail.”
The new upgrades, in addition to helping them video conference, would help share information to both council and the public during scheduled meetings. The final cost of the upgrades is yet to be determined, and the county hopes to use some provincial funding to help cover the project’s cost.
