The following are selected briefs from the Sept. 19 regular meeting of Raymond town council (Sept. 19 minutes and Oct. 3 agenda).
Items For Discussion:
On Sept. 19 ATCO sent a franchise letter to council where it was determined the franchise fees will be left as they currently are.
Raymond also had Development Officer Mark Boltezar in chambers to discuss some responses that had come from the public regarding access to a block. Council motioned for administration to continue giving notices to residents as the plans continue to proceed.
Administration was instructed to review Fort Macleod’s Community Standards Bylaw with instructions to bring it to the next Bylaw and Policy Committee Meeting for further discussion. Director of Community Services Hugh Simpson also arrived at chambers to give council an update on the successes and challenges faced by his department in the past year. Following up this discussion, Simpson asked council to consider some of the priorities he brought forward for next year.
At the Oct. 3 council meeting, similar to ATCO, Fortis also sent a franchise fee letter to Raymond council. The letter came with some information on how the franchise fee is calculated, how the rates may change and various other information leading into 2024.
Administration received an email from MP Glen Motz’s team regarding a Joint Town Hall meeting with Motz himself as well as other governmental entities. Raymond will be collaborating with the Town of Bow Island, Town of Cardston, Village of Foremost, Village of Stirling, Town of Milk River, Village of Coutts and the Village of Warner to set up a date and time for the meeting.
