The Central Alberta Hockey League regular season kicked off last weekend for teams throughout the region.
In the U11 division, Raymond got off to a 1-1 start. Saturday the team fell 6-3 to Taber, despite a two-goal effort from Cooper Rodeback. Klay Koopmans also scored, while Track Nelson picked up an assist. Remington Jardine made 21 saves in the game.
On Sunday, Raymond beat up on Redcliff by a score of 12-6. Rodeback had five points on four goals and one assist and both Koopmans and Tripp Durfey had two goals and one assist. Houston Hill had a goal and two helpers. Max Walburger, Brixden Manning and Jesse Wilde also scored. Jordan Schmidt stopped 14 shots for the win.
Magrath went 0-2 on the weekend, which began Friday with a 9-4 loss to Cardston. Carter Juhasz had two goals and Gibson Bates and Kacey Blackmore added singles. Payke Bates and Weston Odland had assists. Tymen Allson was in goal.
On Saturday, Magrath fell 4-3 to Picture Butte. Blackmore, Grayson Owens and Chase Ririe had the Magrath goals, as Maxwell Harker and Kashton Johnson drew assists. Allsop made 38 saves in the game.
In U13 play, Raymond fell 4-2 to Okotoks in the Saturday contest. Nixon Sommerfeldt and Tanner Wells had the goals, and Carter Harris picked up an assist. Kalani Purcell made 30 saves in goal.
Raymond bounced back with an 8-3 win Sunday over Medicine Hat, as Harris had five points on three goals and one assist. Lane Smith scored twice and Wells had a goal and an assist. Eddie Little Shields and Jack Patrick Salmon had single markers. Hayes Hill, R.J. Moline and Kylan Backwater had assists, as Purcell earned the win in net.
Magrath’s U15 team picked up a 6-2 win on Saturday over Lethbridge. Tason Heath had four goals for the victors, as Cohen Brady Michel added two. Nixon Barnett and Colton Olson had two assists each, while single helpers were credited to Bronson Ripley, Ryder Harrison, Clayton Michel and Taza Rae Powelson. Ashton Jensen made 26 saves for the win.
In U18 play, Magrath took out Pincher Creek on Friday by a score of 5-1. Ross Ravoy had two goals and an assist to lead the way, while Know Tame scored twice. Rushton Ripley added a goal and an assist. Adam Chipman, Logan Jensen and Black Roe had assists. Conner Schneyder made 26 stops in goal.
On Sunday, Magrath fell 3-1 to Nanton. Rushton Ripley had the lone goal, assisted by Rigin Smith, as Schneyder made 18 saves.
