Highway 4 collision near Warner claims life

Raymond/Magrath RCMP are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred near Warner on March 7.

RCMP stated that around 7:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to an accident scene on Highway 4, just north of Warner.

Police say a northbound passenger vehicle and a semi were travelling on Highway 4 when the passenger vehicle swerved in front of the semi to avoid striking multiple deer in their driving lane.

According to the investigation, the semi collided with the back of the passenger vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and drive into the ditch.

A 26-year-old woman from the United States, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to hospital in Calgary via STARS and later succumbed to her injuries.

Police said both drivers were uninjured.

The investigation into the collision continues.
