The Village of Warner’s ‘Village Matters Newsletter’ is available at the beginning of every month.
“The Village Matters Newsletter has information from the previous month’s Council meeting, advertisements from the village and from surrounding communities like Milk River and Coutts, business advertising, thank you’s, information about what is going on at the ice arena, and information from the Warner School,” said Kim Owen, Director of Corporate Services for the Village of Warner.
The Newsletter, Owen says, used to be mailed out; however, it was not being read by everyone that received it. About three years ago, Owen says, Council decided to have the newsletter available online, emailed to residents that signed up to get their utility bill emailed to them, and also have copies available at the local grocery store.
Owen says that the Village Matters Newsletter started at least 20 years ago to get any information given to the Village administration office for the newsletter out to Village of Warner and County residents that picked up their mail at the Warner post office.
“Village Matters Newsletter started before social media so that was the way to get the information out,” said Owen. “Now we have social media, but we also have the capabilities to let people know by text message, voicemail, email, and utility email that the newsletter is available online or copies available at the Village office. Council is happy with the newsletter and the newest capabilities of getting the events in Warner out via leaving copies at the grocery store, text, voicemail, and email.”
The Newsletter, Owen says, is put together by Village Administration and funded by the Village. The current publication is available on the Village of Warner’s website: https://www.warner.ca/.
“The residents that have signed up to stay connected to the Village office via text, voicemail and email, love it,” said Owen. “It keeps residents informed on what is going on. We also have the capabilities to push notifications through if there is an emergency. Council feels that the newsletter is having a good impact on the community as we are mostly a retirement community, and we add what is going on at the Seniors Centre on the Village Matters Newsletter Calendar and also add reminders during the month via our mass texts, voicemails and emails.”
