My name is Wayne Lowry and I have decided to put my name forward to serve as a councillor for the Village of Stirling. I have lived here for the past 20+ years with my wife Leslie, who was raised in this community. Together we have raised four children here, all of whom graduated from our local high school and have moved on. We are fortunate to have one daughter that has decided to stay here in Stirling with her husband and two of our five grandchildren.

Even though there are no specific qualifications to serve on council, I believe that through my education, career and volunteer board and committee service I am well suited to serve as a counsellor for the Village of Stirling. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Alberta and a 33 year professional career in banking, finance and investing. I have a passion for the outdoors and have volunteered in several positions with the Alberta Fish and Game Association (AFGA) up to and including being President. This volunteer service spanned a period of 25+ years. It also gave me an opportunity to serve on various boards and committees which I believe will be a valuable asset to being a member of the Village of Stirling council.

Being retired, I feel that I have the time needed to dedicate to being on the Village of Stirling council in an effort to be as effective as possible. I would also have the time to serve on any committees that the council wants me to participate in. My experience in finance and budgeting can also be an asset to being on council. I am willing to learn from the work done by the previous councils in efforts to optimize the goals and vision for the community. I have the experience of being on various boards and am familiar with the relationship they have with administration. I wish to continue with the work of previous councils in establishing policies and by-laws in an effort to improve the quality and level of local services.
