Carma Leishman, Office and Media Specialist for SASH Disability Support, says that Cravings: Take-Out and Catering is owned and powered by SASH: Disability Support and both businesses share an office, located on Highway 62, 22 N 1 St W, Magrath.
Previously known as SASH Pizza, Cravings Take-Out and Catering has been in operation since the early 1990’s and rebranded in the summer of 2025.
“We are a commercial kitchen that is operated by SASH employees as well as the individuals that receive SASH Supports,” said Leishman. “We offer a kitchen for the community to purchase food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as catering services.”
Leishman says that the business is a central part to the SASH agency in Magrath and allows the individuals they support to give back to their community while at the same time learning new life skills to help them in daily living.
“Giving those individuals who live in our community the chance to contribute and provide support to others in the community has always been one of the driving forces in this business,” said Leishman. “We have many individuals who grew up here and in the surrounding area and this is a chance for them to maintain and grow connections to the community.”
Leishman says that Cravings operates as the same as any other restaurant or fast-food industry does.
“We have a full menu available to order from and try to get the food out to the customer as quickly as possible,” said Leishman. “Since the rebrand of Cravings Take Out and Catering, it has become quite busy likely due to the change in menu and the new variety of options that we have available. We have comfort food like pizza, chicken, wings, onion rings, and sweet potato fries, but we also have salads, bunwiches, and wraps, and our breakfast sandwich. We also added some outdoor seating options to allow customers to sit while they eat. We invite everyone to stop in and try some items from our new menu!
Leishman says that Cravings promotes the business through their Facebook page Cravings: Take-Out & Catering, through posters and signs around town, and word of mouth. In addition to Cravings, Leishman says, SASH also powers the Magrath Bottle Depot, the Magrath and Area Recycling Services for Magrath as well as a Community Food Pantry.
“SASH also runs many programs providing care and support for individuals with disabilities,” said Leishman. “At SASH in Magrath, we have over 30 individuals who access support and more that access support outside of the town. We have worked hard to be involved in all different community events to ensure that we have that strong sense of community connectedness. We feel that serving the community brings all of us closer together as without such a strong sense of connectedness, some of what we would hope to accomplish would not be possible. We want to build, enhance, and give back to the community, and in the same way, we hope that our community will support us. The community also supports us as well with purchasing the food and donating to our other social enterprises. We are proud to provide a valuable service to the Town of Magrath.”
