Magrath’s bi-weekly meeting on April 11 was light and featured minor items for discussion. A letter was sent to Council by the President of the Garden City Seniors seeking their support in their bid for Assisted funding for new shingles at the Garden City Senior Citizens Centre. The funding program is New Horizons for Seniors Program Assistance Funding.
The letter stated the shingles on the building are old, curled and appear to be ready to start leaking.
Chief Administrative Officer Wade Alston said the Centre is not seeking funding from Council but just support and a motion from Council. Alston added they had done this process in the past with the Centre. The motion was carried unanimously.
Council announced the charity recipient of the 2017 Charitable Golf Tournament was the Zenith Alumni.
Town Administration announced that Fortis will be updating their pole infrastructure now. Axia is planning their work in three stages over the next several months. Administration was informed the first stage will last approximately two months.
Finally, Cardston County was provided with the latest engineering update on the Highway 5 Storm Water Project and Tanner Park. The Town’s engineers will be coordinating with the County on a few items on the eastern end of the project and contractors are proceeding with the work.
