Magrath teams see success on the ice as calendar flips to February

It was another busy weekend on the ice for teams throughout the region.

Magrath’s U11 team started things off with a 5-2 win over Saturday over Vulcan, as Jase Hansen led the way with a goal and two assists, while Owen Stanford had a goal and a helper.

Gibson Bates, Payke Bates and Kashton Johnson also scored for Magrath, while Tye Veale got the win in net.

On Sunday, Magrath fell to defeat by a score of 8-3 in Taber, despite a two-goal performance from Gibson Bates. Chase Ririe also scored, while Levi Zobell, Grayson Owens and Riggs Hudson had single assists.

Veale took the loss in net.

Magrath U13 team defeated Lethbridge 6-4 on Friday, as Carter Harris had a big day with three goals and two assists. Tason Heath scored twice and added an assist, while Bronson Ripley scored once. Brecklynn Bates and Colton Olson had assists.

Reid Pelzmann made 29 saves for the win.

Saturday saw Magrath drop an 8-6 game to Redcliff, as Harris scored another hat trick and contributed three assists. Ripley had two goals and an assist and Heath had a goal and two helpers. Bates had two assists and Dayson Loose had a single helper.

Pelzmann faced 38 shots in the loss.

Friday’s U15 slate included a 5-3 Magrath loss in Pincher Creek, which featured a two-goal performance from Cody Marris. Joseph Wilde scored once and single assists were credited to Nixon Barnett, Paislee Loose, Beau Brier, Mason Mehew, Clayton Michel and Adam Chipman.

Powell David Jr. Ford faced 51 Pincher Creek shots.

Saturday, Magrath earned a 6-4 win over Lethbridge. Wilde recorded a hat trick and Harris had a goal and two assists. Bronx Hill and Ryder Harrison also scored, as Mehew, Loose, Chipman and Riley Schneyder picked up assists.

Kohlman Blackmore made 26 saves in goal.
