Magrath U18s earn two big wins on the ice in CAHL play

It was another busy weekend on the ice for local teams in the Central Alberta Hockey League.

Magrath’s U11 team played one game, and earned a tight 5-4 victory over Taber.

Cody Beier had two goals to lead the way, while Davyn Gillam had a goal and an assist. Lukas Quapp added a goal and Cooper Seward had one assist.

Raylan Owens made 39 saves in net to pick up the win.

On the U13 circuit, Magrath once again took a 5-4 win, this time over Foothills.

Kashton Johhson scored a hat trick and picked up a helper, as Ty Mehew and Gibson Bates had the other Magrath goals. Tymen Allsop picked up the victory in goal.

Raymond fell to defeat by an 8-7 score at the hands of Taber, despite a four-point effort from Michael Bevans, who had two goals and two assists.

Casey VandenHoek had two goals and one assist, and Karl Russell Jr. scored twice. Greyson Court had the other Raymond goal, while Heath Smith added one assist. Jordan Schmidt made 24 stops in goal.

On Sunday, Raymond suffered another one-goal defeat, this time a 10-9 setback against Cardston.

Cooper Rodeback had three goals and one assist, Jesse Wilde scored once and picked up two helpers and Bevans scored twice in the high-scoring affair. Russell Jr. had a goal and an assist, as VandenHoek and Court also scored. Brixden Manning was credited with a helper as well. Schmidt made 26 saves in the contest.

Raymond’s U15 team picked up a 7-0 win over Coaldale to start the weekend.

Dayton Black Water made 27 saves in net to secure the shutout, while Jaxton Rodeback paced the offence with a hat trick and one assist.

Lane Smith had three helpers and Trigger Heggie tickled the twine twice. Miles Smith and Kraden Heath picked up single markers. Hudson Turchyn, Pete Schneyder and Booker Alston had assists.

On Saturday, Raymond fell 8-4 to Bow Island.

Rodeback had three assists and Smith scored twice in a losing effort.

Heggie and Turchyn also had goals, while Owen Stanford and Cooper Lutz had one assist each. Kalani Purcell made 29 saves in the game.

Magrath’s U18 squad took down Taber by a score of 7-2, as Cooper Godlonton paced the offence with two goals and one assist. Ryder Harrison also scored twice and Tason Heath picked up two helpers. Clay Christensen, Mason Mehew and Logan Jensen had the other goals. Ty Godlonton, Bronson Ripley and Erik Quapp added single assists. Kohlman Blackmore made 14 saves.

On Saturday, Evan Bezooyen made nine saves to earn a 12-0 shutout win over Pincher Creek.

Ty Godlonton had two goals and an assist and both Quapp and Beau Beier turned in three-point efforts with a goal and two helpers each. Cooper Godlonton scored twice and Mehew had a goal and a helper.

Heath, Ripley, Nixon Barnett, Easton Fraser and Adam Chipman all scored. Jensen and Levi Harker picked up one assist each.
