WHO overreach in upcoming pandemic treaty

Posted on May 23, 2024 by admin

Dear Editor:

The World Health Organization is meeting beginning May 27 until June 2 to initiate new regulations for Public Health Emergencies of International Concern, also known as the Pandemic Preparedness Treaty. I am vehemently opposed to Canada signing on to this treaty.

Although the WHO has said that the treaty is now non-binding, we know this means nothing, that Canada will follow the directives of the WHO as they did during COVID. Every province had/has Emergency Management Response Plans in place and these were discarded in favour of the WHO’s and Health Canada’s directives. I submit that Canada would have been far better off had Canada followed these locally-administered plans.

The International Health Regulation Amendments (IHRA) are not even finalized and should not be accepted until Canada/Canadians are able to view the regulations in their entirety. Putting in “Climate Change” as a world health hazard is overreach, as is disallowing free speech which is also proposed in the regulations. Free speech was not allowed by individual doctors during COVID and continues to be a farce in the medical community. Individual doctors should, and need to be, in charge of their own patients’ health, not bureaucrats, (especially Tedros, head of the WHO, who is not even a medical doctor).

The IHRA allow for breach of civil liberties such as seizure of financial assets, property, and disallow travel under an actual or ANTICIPATED emergency. There is no requirement to provide proof of an isolated virus/disease to justify such actions.

The WHO is an unelected board that has no accountability to Canadians. We do not want to cede sovereignty over Canadians’ health (and other overreaches as above) to this organization that has no criminal liability for their decisions. Instead, there are penalties for member states (Canada) for non-compliance.

I am unable to comply with these unknown regulations and will not.

I urge you, fellow Albertans, to contact the Honourable Mark Holland, Minister of Health, to withdraw Canada’s support and not sign the International Health Regulations Amendments under the Public Health Emergencies of International Concern.

Sincerely,

Ruth Dyck, Bow Island
