Robin Fisher is Stirling’s new fire chief after Thomas Potter’s resignation two weeks ago.
The Stirling Fire Department is an all-volunteer force.
“We’re excited because Robin is very qualified,” said Mayor Trevor Lewington.
“He does some firefighting instruction with NorQuest College out of Edmonton. He consults for them, so he’s got an awful lot of qualifications and we’re excited to see what he can do with the department and continue to grow and develop with that team.”
Fisher has been based in the village since last year.
“We’re glad that we have someone in our community with all those skills that we can take advantage of,” said Lewington.
Lewington also had high praise for the outgoing chief, who had been in that position for five years.
“We recognize his service, because he did a lot to get the department to a higher level of training, making them a much stronger team than they were before,” said the mayor.
