The Town of Raymond’s first drive-in concert of the season is sure to be a hit.

While the town is keeping the name of the band under wraps until April 27, Greg Robinson, director of Community Development and Human Resources for the town, says the first band is sure to be a huge sell-out.

The town is hosting a contest for the event, and is asking those interested to guess who the mystery band is on the Raymond Plaza Facebook page for a chance to win free tickets to the May long-weekend event.

Robinson says the concerts have been a huge draw to the area.

“We have found the drive-in events have been an excellent opportunity to bring people to Raymond that likely otherwise would not visit,” said Robinson. “For example, our overall visitor rate for our drive-in concerts is about 80-85 per cent, which is very high. This traffic offers our businesses more opportunities to do business, as well as showcase the very best of Raymond.”

With the 40-foot tall screen, Robinson says everyone who attends will be able to get a great spot to view the drive-in concerts, which have typically been either performed live and streamed to drive-in locations in the U.S. and Canada or pre-recorded strictly for these shows.

“It is brand new content that has not been seen anywhere! Last year, we had Blake Shelton, Metallica and Kane Brown. This year’s list will be equally exciting.”

The town is currently planning to hold one show in May and two more in June, with more to be announced as summer approaches.
