Raymond Town Council minutes

The following are selected briefs from the July 11 regular meeting of Raymond town council. 

Items for Discussion:

A part-time student for the Raymond Museum was proposed, and it was unanimously carried to accept the museum’s request for $1123.20 to hire the part-time summer student to keep the museum open for four hours a day, three days a week for six weeks. 

Some changes have been made to the Town of Raymond’s Waste Management Policy. It was identified that scavenging at the transfer station has started to become an issue. Council discussed becoming more strict in enforcing after hour and scavenging rules as laid out within the Waste Management Policy. However it was decided that for the time being the enforcement at the transfer station will remain as it is. 

Administration was directed to instruct Operational Services that for future flushing of fire hydrants on Cobblestone Lane to divert the water to the roads instead of the ditches. 

Council also expressed their gratitude to all the staff, volunteers and everyone involved in making Heritage Days 2023 a successful day. 

Closed Session:

Council entered closed session at 7:11 p.m. where they discussed various different land matters that remain undisclosed following the FOIP Act. Council would reconvene into open session at 8:44 p.m.. In open session they unanimously carried 18-2023 Land Matter. 

Correspondence: 

Council received some invites to various different events happening in southern Alberta this summer including an invite to Picture Butte’s Jamboree Days and the Pincher Creek parade. They also received a heartwarming letter from a citizen that had a pleasant experience at the town office, noting their eagerness to help.
