The Raymond Comets girls basketball team has captured this year’s Magrath Panda Classic Tournament.
The Comets downed the Medicine Hat McCoy Colts 85-45 in the gold medal game Saturday night.
Leading the Comets was Dez Jensen with 22 points. Megan Snow and Lyvia Jensen added 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Raymond.
Katelyn Rozedeba led the Colts with 10 points.
The Comets earned their berth in the final with an 80-36 win over the Strathmore Spartans as Teyah Weir led Raymond with 18 points and Lyvia Jensen put up a 12-point outing
In the other semifinal, the Colts beat the host Magrath Pandas 75-48.
For the Pandas, Bethany Dow led the way with 11 points.
Magrath rebounded in the third-place game with an 81-46 win over the Spartans as Jianna Hubbard topped the Pandas with 17 points, Sage Finck added 15 and Dow had 14.
In the consolation final, the Medicine Hat Crescent Heights Vikings downed the McDougall Mustangs 61-37.
Mikayla Vodon had 12 points for the Vikings and Kia Kannekens chipped in with 11. Kayle Kolke had 10 points for the Mustangs.
Named as tournament all-stars were Brianna Kennedy (Strathmore), Dow (Magrath), Rozdeba (McCoy), Ivy Jensen (Raymond) and Weir (Raymond).
Carley Doneff from McCoy was named as the Defensive MVP, while Raymond’s Dez Jensen took home the Offensive MVP award.
