A dominating pitching performance Monday night helped the Magrath Zeniths earn a 3-0 win over the Medicine Hat Mohawks.
Sam Noad worked five shutout innings, as the Magrath starting pitcher gave up five hits, struck out six and did not walk a single Medicine Hat batter.
That performance allowed the Zeniths to cruise to a victory, as Magrath put one run on the board in the bottom of the first on Levi Gruninger’s sacrifice fly. The Zeniths added two more runs in the bottom of the third.
Noad added two hits for Magrath and one RBI, as Paycen Blackmore went 2-3, as his day included a triple and one RBI.
Medicine Hat pitchers scattered eight hits in the contest, as John Jones, Dustin Roe and Paxton Maxwell all went 1-2 at the dish, while Taylor Cook went 1-1. Blackmore and Jones also had stolen bases in the contest.
Magrath’s defence was flawless as well, as the Zeniths did not commit an error, en route to the exhibition win.
With the season set to wind down, the Zeniths were scheduled to take on Lethbridge’s Chinook Coyotes in a Wednesday-night game at Lloyd Nolan Yard in the city (score unavailable at press time).
