With February almost at its end, it means the Central Alberta Hockey League is transitioning to playoffs, but before that could happen, Raymond Knight teams still had several regular-season games remaining.
U11
A single regular-season game remained on the calendar for the U11 Knights this past weekend.
On Friday night, the team hit the road to Picture Butte to take on the Blades. Plenty of goals were scored, but the Blades would eventually win the game 10-5. Jaxton Rodeback had a goal and three assists, Dax Hill had two goals and an assist, Lane Smith had a goal and two assists, and Banks Sugai had a single goal. Kalani Purcell was in net for the Knights and the goalie would make 25 saves on 35 shots.
At the end of the regular season, the U11 Knights have a 7-5-4 record and 28 points which secured fourth place in Tier 3 Blue.
The Knights now turn their focus to the playoffs as they take on Bow Island/Foremost in the first round. With the Knights finishing ahead in the standings, Game 1 goes in Raymond on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with teams returning for Game 2 in Foremost on Sunday at 3 p.m.
U13
The regular season came to an end for the U13 Knights this weekend as they had one final game before the schedule flipped to playoffs.
On Saturday afternoon, the team hosted the Magrath Chiefs and the home team was unable to mount a comeback as they fell 6-4. Easton Fraser had two goals, Bronx Hill had two assists, and Hayes Hill and Nixon Roe each had a single goal for the Knights. Nate Nelson got the start for the Knights, making 51 stops on 57 shots.
The U13 Knights finished the regular season with a 3-8-5 record, 18 points, and a fourth-place finish in Tier 4 Red.
Despite the final regular-season loss to the Chiefs, the Knights will have an opportunity to avenge that loss as the two teams will match up in the first round of the playoffs. Magrath finished ahead in the standings and will have home-ice advantage. Game 1 goes this Friday in Magrath at 6:30 p.m. with the teams returning to Raymond on Saturday for Game 2 at 3:45 p.m. A potential Game 3 would happen Sunday at 11 a.m. in Magrath.
U18
Before the regular season ended, the U18 Knights had one final game.
Friday night saw the team welcome in Bassano which resulted in a barn burner. Both teams would score back and forth, but thanks to three goals in the third period, the visiting team would secure a 7-6 victory. Daxon Helgerson and Cohen Fraser each had a goal and an assist for the Knights, while Jake Gedrasik, Grady Vandenhoek, Ty Romeril, and Rushton Ripley each found the back of the net for the Knights. Brody Smith, Brody Godlonton, Bryce Kawade, and Gunner Ravoy also chipped in with an assist. Tyler Creed was the starting Knight netminder and he made 22 stops on 29 shots.
The regular season end saw the U18 Knights with a 3-12-1 record, 12 points, and a fifth-place finish in Tier 3 Red.
