Raymond U11 team lights up scoreboard in two weekend contests

It was another busy weekend on the ice for Magrath and Raymond minor hockey teams.

In U9 play, the Magrath Chiefs played another strong team game and came away with a 6-2 victory over the Fort Macleod Mavericks.

Leading the way was Cody Beier with four goals. Liam Stanford and Cooper Seward had one goal each. Raylen Owens had another strong game in goal and had a shutout going until late in the third period.

Raymond’s U11 team scored an astounding 29 goals in two games, which started off with a 16-7 win over Foothills. Cooper Rodeback had four goals and one assist, Max Walburger had three goals and one assist and Stetson Nelson picked up a hat trick. Brixden Manning had two goals and one assist, Tripp Durfey recorded three helpers and Klay Koopmans had two markers. Track Nelson and Houston Hill had a goal and an assist each, as Jesse Wilde chipped in with a pair of helpers. Clay Nelson added one assist.

Remington Jardine made five saves in net, while Jordan Schmidt made seven stops.

Koopmans had a goal and four assists in a 13-3 win over Fort Macleod, while Rodeback and Stetson Nelson had identical performances of three goals and one assist. Durfey had two goals and Hill and Walburger each had a goal and an assist. Manning and Casey Vandenhoek each had a goal, while Clay Nelson had one helper.

Schmidt made 33 saves in the game and Jardine recorded seven saves.

On Saturday, Magrath’s U11 team won 7-3 over Foremost, as Gibson Bates posted a hat trick. Carter Juhasz had two goals and one assist and Grayson Owens scored twice. Brody Koci added one assist.

Tymen Allsop made nine saves to pick up the win.

A day later, Magrath fell 16-3 to Pincher Creek, despite a two-goal effort from Juhasz. Bates had the other Magrath goal, while Owens and Weston Odland each drew assists.

Allsop took the loss in net, as he faced a barrage of 44 shots.

In U13 play, Raymond dropped a tight 3-2 game on Saturday to Lethbridge, as Lane Smith and Jack Patrick Salmon scored for Raymond.

Kalani Purcell made 25 saves in net.

Magrath’s U15 team had two weekend contests, which started with Friday’s 6-3 win over Lethbridge. Tason Heath had two goals to lead the way, while Nixon Roe had a goal and an assist. Lilly Rodeback and Easton Fraser both picked up two assists, while Beau Beier, Cohen Brady Michel and Ryder Harrison all had one goal each. Mixon Barnett and Miles Smith both had assists.

Kohlman Blackmore made 35 saves for the win.

On Sunday, Magrath dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Medicine Hat, as Ashton Jensen was strong in net with 36 saves.

In the U18 division, Magrath fell 7-0 to Indus on Saturday and 13-0 on Sunday to Irvine to drop to 4-2 on the season.
