CAHL season rolls on for Magrath and Raymond teams

Central Alberta Hockey League play continued last week for teams in Magrath and Raymond.

In U11 play, Raymond dropped a 6-5 decision Saturday to Nanton. Cooper Rodeback had two goals and an assist, while Klay Koopmans had one goal and one assist. Mark Chipman and Tripp Durfey had single goals, while Houston Hill and Brixden Manning had one assist each. Jordan Schmidt made 16 saves.

On Sunday, Raymond lost 8-3 to Medicine Hat, as Rodeback scored all three goals. Hill had one assist, as Remington Jardine was in goal.

Magrath’s U11 team won 5-3 on Saturday over Fort Macleod. Gibson Bates scored three and Kacey Blackmore and Andrew Woolf added singles. Grayson OWens had an assist. Tymen Alsop made 32 saves in the win.

U13 play saw Raymond go 1-1, which started Saturday in an 8-4 loss to Brooks. Tanner Wells had two goals and Hayes Hill and Kyland Blackwater had singles. Carter Harris and Jack Patrick Salmon had assists. Kalani Purcell made 35 saves.

On Sunday, Raymond won 8-7 over Fort Macleod, as Wells had three goals and an assist. Harris had two goals and one assist and Salmon had a goal and an assist. R.J. Moline had two assists and single helpers went to Nixon Sommerfeldt, Lane Smith and Trigger Heggie. Purcell made 31 saves.

Magrath’s U15 team won 5-3 on Friday over Picture Butte, as Easton Fraser had two goals and one assist. Beau Breier had two assists and Ryder Harrison, Clayton Michel and Taza Rae Powelson all had one goal each. Bronson Ripley, Cohen Brady Michel, Brecklynn Bates, Colton Olson and Lilly Rodeback had assists. Kohlman Blackmore made 20 saves.

On Saturday, Magrath earned a 1-0 win over Medicine Hat, as Bronson Ripley had the lone goal, assisted by Cohen Brady Michel. Ashton Jensen earned the shutout in goal.

In U18 play, Magrath defeated Foothills on Saturday by a 5-3 score. Rushton Ripley had one goal and one assist, while Luke Rodeback, Logan Jensen, Beckman Sugai and Blake Roe added one goal each. Ty Godlonton, Copper Godlonton, Ross Ravoy, Mason Mehew and Adam Chipman had assists. Conner Schneyder made 34 saves in goal.

The Magrath U9 Chiefs played in the Foremost tournament this past weekend. The first game the team lost to Raymond in a shootout 5-4. Magrath then played Medicine Hat Badlands and lost 10-5. Sunday the U9 squad played Foremost and lost in a shootout 4-3. Leading the way for scoring was Liam Stanford with eight goals. Cody Beier had two goals, while Davyn Gillam and Mav Retzer had singles. Liam Stanford and Cooper Seward each scored in the shootout.
