Stirling and Magrath modernization updates

The last year of construction, moving, reorganization, and work on the Magrath and Stirling Schools has been moving along quickly.

We have watched as the Magrath Elementary School has been renovated and classes are now preparing to occupy the space in September. Stirling’s gym is going up quickly, with a roof installed, insulation and walls being built, and the whole structure coming together. Both of these projects will result in world class facilities for the education of our students and the growth of our communities.

Magrath’s finished building will have an indoor playground, a community theatre with a digital projector, and a beautiful new library space.  Stirling’s building will also feature a community theatre as well as the largest gym of a school this size and type in Alberta and a significantly improved interior space.

These buildings are built to last a generation and both will continue to be of significant value to the community for decades. Westwind School Division takes being a community partner very seriously across our region.

We make sure that our facilities are open to community groups free of charge. We ensure that our parks and fields are well maintained and open to the public throughout the year.

We recognize our value to our communities as one of the primary employers in the region and make efforts to keep all our schools and facilities viable and growing through the provision of high levels of service.

We have been so excited to work with the Town of Magrath and the Village of Stirling as community partners on these modernization projects. These cooperative ventures have meant the construction of facilities that are of significantly more value to each community that Westwind could have afforded alone. The community partnerships are the key to these successful projects and we are proud to be your partners.

As the work continues, we are excited to see students begin to reoccupy parts of the completed projects. The Magrath project has students occupying a finished portion of the building this spring, and the Stirling project will see part of their school reoccupied in the fall and spring semesters.
