Two points was all that separated the Raymond Comets and Magrath Zeniths Tuesday night.
In a barnburner of a game, the Comets escaped with an 82-80 win over the visiting Zeniths, thanks to an 18-point effort from Jeter Heggie. Brady Baines added 15 and Shae Gibb and Payson Hill poured in 14 each for the balanced Raymond attack.
Magrath was led by Colton Finck’s 22 points, while Mason Stock and Levi Gruninger each scored 14. Garrett Stock added 12.

In senior varsity girls play, the Pandas were in Lethbridge last night to face Catholic Central (score not available at press time). Magrath’s next league game is Jan. 12, also in Lethbridge, against Winston Churchill.
The Raymond Comets also played last night, in the city against Churchill. Raymond will not take to the floor again in league action until Jan. 16, in Lethbridge against LCI.
As for Stirling, both Lakers teams were in Deep South Basketball play last night, as the boys hosted Kate Andrews and the girls traveled to Coaldale to take on Kate Andrews (scores from those games were not available at press time).
On Jan. 16, the Lakers boys will host Immanuel Christian Secondary School, while the Lakers girls will head to the city to take on ICSS.
For far the Lakers boys are 2-0 in league play, while the girls team is 4-0.
