To ensure that our residents remain updated on COVID-19 and Alberta Health’s recommendations, Cardston County will continue to provide information on our website.

Cardston County Council and Administration value the health and safety of the County’s citizens, and are working to ensure that the County is prepared during this difficult time.

Enforcement of the Public Health Act and multiple occupants of a vehicle

We’ve received some calls from residents looking for information regarding whether or not traveling with multiple occupants in a vehicle is a violation of the Social Distancing Order.

On March 31, we received a bulletin from Alberta Justice and Solicitor General regarding the enforcement of the Public Health Act and multiple occupants in a vehicle.

In the bulletin, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hinshaw states: “If you are not under mandatory self-isolation, you will not be fined for travelling in your vehicle with your family or carpooling with coworkers. However, if you are feeling unwell, you must stay home.”
