According to Donna Beazer, Manager of the Jim and Mary Kearl Library in Cardston, visits to the library continually increase.

In preparation for the new Plan of Service, Beazer says, the Town of Cardston Library board actually conducted a community survey to check how widely supported the library was and ultimately, there were 218 respondents.

“It was clear the community finds our library a welcoming, friendly place,” said Beazer. “The Jim and Mary Kearl Library continues to be a hub for our community and the surrounding areas.”

Beazer says that the library is currently running the following programs: a Monthly Book Club, a Crochet Club, and a Yoga Outreach to Chinook Lodge two times a month, Outreach to Lee Crest Good Samaritans facility three times a month, Game On for Youth, Early Literacy drop-off program for three-year-olds, Early Literacy drop-off program for four year olds, Mainly Stories program every Wednesday, Little Notes Kindermusik at the Library Tuesday and Thursdays, and Tot Yoga on Mondays. The library also puts out new materials weekly, Beazer says.

“Our winter programming ends March 31, 2024,” said Beazer. “Programming for spring and summer is still in the development stages, but our website, newsletters, monthly calendar and social media pages will have the information as soon as planning is completed. While I believe our library does a good job at this, there is always room for growth everywhere in regards to fostering community spirit, unity, health and wellness. Society needs never remain static. All institutions should have a plan to continually develop according to the needs to the community. Especially inclusivity.”
