Milk River Watershed Council Canada will be holding their Fall Hike Tour at Sandstone Ranch, which is situated within the Milk River Ridge Natural Area, on September 27.
“The tour serves as a tool to educate and promote the Milk River Watershed Council Canada,” said Mary Lupwayi, Program Coordinator for the Milk River Watershed Council Canada.
Lupwayi says that the Hike Tour will begin at 9 a.m. when everyone meets at Milk River Information Center and transportation will be provided to Sandstone Ranch. Lunch, Lupwayi, says, will be provided at noon, and everyone will return to Milk River at approximately 3 p.m. with the hike itself taking approximately four hours.
The cost of the tour, Lupwayi says, is $40 per person with payment being collected on the day of the event. Those interested in registering, Lupwayi says, can do so by emailing mary@mrwcc.ca and space is limited to 30 people.
Lupwayi also says that although there will be drinking water and snacks, people are free to bring their own and are asked to wear proper hiking gear.
“Our Hike Tours are designed to get people out in some of the beautiful and often little-known corners of the Milk River watershed,” said Lupwayi. “These areas have extraordinary landscapes that include rolling grasslands and diverse plant and wildlife communities.”
People can get information on how to get involved with the event on the Milk River Watershed Council Canada website: http://www.mrwcc.ca
“This event has been one of our successful events,” said Lupwayi. “It serves as one of the tools to promote the watershed. We get great feedback from the public. We wish to thank all participants who have made this event such a success over the years!”
