Perennial Plant Sale – Bake Sale – Garage Sale
Visit the Raymond United Church on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3p.m. to satisfy your sweet tooth, brighten up your garden and possibly find a new to you treasure or two at one of the garage sale tables.
The congregation has held the annual fundraiser event for the last five years in order to help cover some of the upkeep and operating costs of the church.
“It is also an important opportunity for us to reach out and engage the community in a variety of ways, both to just get to know people and for the community to get to know us,” said Norine Ambrose, co-event organizer.
On the United Church front lawn, across from Town Hall, there will be a perennial plant sale. All of the plants are grown and donated by church members.
“They are locally grown and suited for the environment.” Items will vary in cost between $1 and $10 and will include a large assortment of fragrant and colourful flowers, smaller shrubs and trees, as well as herbs and raspberry shoots.
“It is a good deal for larger, well established perennials,” pointed out Ambrose, noting that most are already several years old and strong thriving plants.
People are welcome to donate perennials that they no longer want or have room for by dropping them off Saturday morning.
Inside will be a delicious bake table showcasing the baking talents of the church members. There will be a large variety of treats including loaves, cinnamon buns, cakes, pies, cookies, scones, squares, buns and brownies.
“It is all fresh and homemade by our church members. The fresh buns and cinnamon buns don’t last more than the first 20 minutes,” said Ambrose. She recommends coming earlier in the day to have the best selection.
Prices will range from $1 to $10 depending on quantity and size of item.
There will also be various garage sale tables set up, featuring a wide assortment of odds and ends. The church will have a few tables set up as will community members.
If you are interested in reserving a table to sell unwanted items, you are encouraged to contact Alice Kamitomo at 752-3603 to book a table by Friday evening.
There is a $10 fee to reserve and use a table during the event, but all proceeds from the items sold belong to the owner.
The event will go rain or shine. People are reminded to bring cash to make purchases
