Raymonites will have a chance to go to the polls on Sept. 10 to elect a new town councillor after the abrupt resignation of Greg Robinson.
In a letter dated June 12, Robinson formally announced his resignation from Raymond town council.
“For personal reasons I am stepping aside from council,” he wrote. “With this change I will be able to dedicate myself to my career and as well meet the needs of my family.”
Robinson was the sole incumbent councillor to seek re-election in 2017.
He was previously elected in the 2013 and 2010 elections.
Council agreed to the byelection date to replace Robinson at its June 19 meeting.
Residents can mark their ballots at the Raymond Senior’s Centre from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
For those who can’t make it on Sept. 10, advanced voting will occur on Sept. 8 in the council chambers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There will also be arrangements made for those who cannot make the Sept. 8 or 10 date, are incapacitated at home or hospsitalized.
The deadline for candidates to register is Aug. 10.
A motion put forward by Coun. Ken Heggie to approve this schedule was passed unanimously.
