There will be a scheduled power outage for the Village of Stirling this Friday.
The outage, which is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon, will affect about 460 users in and around the Village of Stirling.
According to a representative from Fortis Alberta, the outage is part of a major project to improve reliability for the village’s electricity supply, as it will allow, in some cases and when it is safe to do so, for Fortis’s Control Centre in Airdrie to remotely return power if a fault that occurs, rather than customers having to wait for a Power Line Technician to be dispatched and manually restore power.
This means that power restoration would potentially take seconds rather than potential hours under those circumstances.
The work being done on Friday will sees crews replacing three power poles that feed electricity into Stirling.
According to the village’s website, the work is being done weather depending, and the Village Office and ATB Financial will be closed that Friday.
Customers who will be experiencing the outage should receive a phone call from Fortis 48 hours in advance. People with questions or who want to ensure that Fortis has the correct contact information for them, can call the Customer Care Centre at 310-WIRE (9473), or visit fortisalberta.ca.
