Independent candidate Angela Tabak is running with the hopes of becoming the next MLA of the Cardston-Siksika riding.

Tabak is multi-lingual and speaks English, Dutch, and French. She has publicly spoken about how she sees running as an independent candidate not as means to further her career, but rather an opportunity to serve the Cardston-Siksika riding.

Now running under the “Independents for Alberta” banner, Tabak has also previously been aligned with the Wildrose Independence Party of Alberta (WIPA), having served as president of WIPA’s Cardston-Siksika constituency association.

Tabak told Southern Alberta Newspapers, “My ultimate goal in running as an independent is basically choice and democracy. Rather than having disaffected voters simply decide to not vote (I have heard this way too many times already!) I am giving them a choice to have their voices heard and hopefully, ultimately, to have the representation they deserve.”

According to her official campaign website, Tabak said she is running as a conservative independent candidate because, “An independent candidate/MLA has one loyalty and one loyalty only, their constituents. Unrestrained by party policy, all their votes in the legislature reflect the will and mind of those who elected them to be their representative. It is that simple.”

Tabak’s professional ventures include previous ownership of an agricultural testing lab, which she said has given her first-hand insight into various aspects of the agriculture industry.

Tabak also maintains Alberta’s, “abundance of natural resources, wide open spaces, expertise in clean and proper management of those resources, highly educated work force and entrepreneurial spirit, we could be one of the most prosperous nations in the world.”
