The ‘Music for Young Children’ private music studio is located in Raymond, Alta.
“Music for Young Children is a fantastic early music education program designed to foster a love for music learning through play and social interaction,” said Amy Halvorson, owner and operator of the ‘Music for Young Children’ private music studio. “I always welcome inquiries and studio visits throughout the year. I teach ‘Music for Young Children’ beginner group piano lessons to children ages 4 to 11. I also offer music and movement classes for preschool children aged two to four. My classes are unique and interactive involving children and their parents in a small group class.”
Halvorson says that she has offered the ‘Music For Young Children’ program in Raymond since 2022, has been a piano teacher since 2000, and has used the Music for Young Children curriculum in her private music studio since 2007 in several locations across Alberta.
“I grew up with music, learning, playing and performing in many forms,” said Halvorson. “I was fortunate to be taught by many wonderful teachers, in and around Raymond, including my own father who taught school band for over 35 years, and I have always had a passion for sharing music. I knew after teaching traditional piano lessons for several years that I wanted to expand my training and be able to offer early music education in a way that would benefit more students while also allowing me to stay home to support my own family. MYC was the perfect balance.”
Music for Young Children, Halvorson says, is a Canadian based curriculum that has trained teachers globally in their music program since it’s inception in 1980.
“My business has had many young students through its doors over the years,” said Halvorson. “Since relocating back to Raymond and opening up my home music studio, I’ve had consistent interest and a fair retention rate. I love being back in the community I grew up in! It’s been wonderful to add to the wonderful extracurricular options for many families in our growing town! I have several wonderful music families that enjoy my music classes! I’ve received many wonderful reviews from music families, both past and current. Many are intrigued by the small group aspect and impressed by the quantity and quality of education offered, and enjoy the unique opportunity to take a class alongside their child.”
Halvorson says that anyone who is interested in more information about her classes or interested in registering for one can visit http://www.myc.com/teacher/AHalvorson or contact her at 403-849-8669.
“I love what I do and am grateful to offer piano to young beginners in Southern Alberta,” said Halvorson. “I am confident that my services and the Music for Young Children curriculum is a valuable asset to Raymond, especially considering there are no other music lessons like this offered for younger beginners outside of the city of Lethbridge. I love providing a unique opportunity for families to bond through music, and to give back to the community I love.”
