The Town of Raymond will be holding their municipal election for the 2025 to 2029 term on October 20, 2025 at the Raymond Seniors’ Centre with voting open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Prior to the big day, a candidates’ forum will be held on October 16, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at the Raymond Broadway Theatre.
The position for Mayor has already been secured by Bryce Coppieters via acclimation.
Matthew Anderson, Brian Eakett, Matt Evans, Andrea Haynes, Wayne Johnson, Kate Kindt, Connor Ralph, Gregory Ranger, Darryl Salmon, Neil Sieben, Pamela Stewart, and Leray Witbeck are all pursuing a position on Council.
Pamela Stewart says that she has proudly called Raymond home for more than 45 years and has co-raised three children with her husband while she built a career with ATB Financial that was filled with opportunities to gain financial knowledge and experience. In addition to that, Stewart says, she has volunteered extensively with many local organizations and Town Committees, giving back to the community she deeply cares about.
“As I have been a volunteer with many organizations within Raymond and even a couple in Lethbridge, I felt running for Council was the next way for me to keep serving our community in a meaningful way,” said Stewart. “I am truly excited about our upcoming election. For me, it’s an exciting chance to serve Raymond in a bigger way and help move our community forward.”
Stewart says that the focus of her campaign is to strengthen transparency, community engagement, involvement and plan responsibly for the future.
“I believe residents should be kept informed and included in the decision-making process,” said Stewart. “I support thoughtful, moderate growth that brings the right kind of development to our town.”
Her goals if elected, Stewart says, include helping Raymond to grow responsibly while keeping the heart of the community strong and connected while still being fiscally responsible. Some of the issues that Stewart believes she could help address include transparency and providing support.
“I plan on listening with intent to the residents to understand what matters most to the community and work with other council members to address those needs.” Said Stewart. “Transparency is really important to me, whether it is about finances or honest communication. Our residents should always be kept informed about the decisions and projects that affect them. As a person that served with the local Chamber of Commerce and on the Economic Development Committee, I support our local entrepreneurs and businesses. We must ensure that new development fits Raymond’s unique character, that small town feeling, and include diverse housing types to meet the needs of all residents. In regards to rural crime, it will take a combined approach focused on prevention, enforcement, and community engagement to tackle this issue. My vision is a Raymond where growth is balanced and the right kind of development for families, seniors and businesses is a supported, where communication is open and heard, and where people feel they are heard and included in shaping our future.”
Stewart says that anyone who is interested in thinking about getting involved in the election process should start involving themselves now.
“Our community needs people who care and want to make a difference,” said Stewart. “Raymond is what it is because of the people who step up. Through volunteering, getting involved in the community you can help shape Raymond’s future. Remember, our community is built on people who care and want to make a difference. When more people are involved and are willing to listen, learn, and serve, we become stronger and more connected.”
