On Dec. 8 at 8:56 a.m., Raymond/Magrath RCMP were dispatched to a semi and pedestrian collision on 1st Street West in Magrath. Magrath Fire and EMS were already on scene when officers arrived.
Initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian was walking along the side of the semi and stepped in front of the truck as the driver pulled away. The semi then hit the pedestrian. Unfortunately, the 42-year-old female resident of Magrath was declared deceased at the scene.
“Our prayers as Town Council go out to those impacted by the tragedy that happened today on Highway 62 that sadly took the life of a 42-year-old female resident of Magrath,” said Magrath Mayor Byrne Cook in a statement. “Please show your support where you can while also respecting the family’s privacy. Thank you to all our first responders, those who assisted today in other ways, and those that will continue to serve as our town heals.”
The investigation continues. RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
