Charity organizations will again have the opportunity to raise money for their organizations through a charity golf tournament.
“As part of our agreement with the Magrath Golf Club for leasing the golf course property, the Town is given one charity golf tournament per year,” explained Town of Magrath Chief Administrative Officer James Suffredine. “The Town uses the Tournament opportunity to give local groups a fundraising event to apply to be the tournament’s host and raise money for their society.”
Organizations who have interest in the opportunity were given until April 9, 2026 to submit a brief letter of consideration to share why they feel they would make a good host and what they would use the funds for. Applications, Suffredine noted, can be submitted to:
Town of Magrath
Charity Golf Tournament
Box 520 Magrath, AB T0K 1J0
Or applications can be emailed to cao@magrath.ca, subject: Golf Tournament.
“Recent host organizations have reported being able to earn $10,000 to $20,000 from the tournament, with some event hosts able to capitalize more with additional sponsorships and silent auctions,” said Suffredine.
Town Council, Suffredine stated, will then consider all the applications for community impact and capacity, and the selected organization will be notified on April 22.
Suffredine also said that once the organization has been chosen, all plans, including the date of the tournament, will be coordinated between Magrath Town Council and the host community. Those involved who have questions can contact the Town of Magrath Office at 403-758-3212, Suffredine noted.
“The community has always come together to support the event,” said Suffredine.
