During the Town of Raymond Council meeting on March 9, Administration and the Town of Raymond Council discussed inviting MP Glen Motz and MLA Grant Hunter to participate in several events celebrating Raymond’s 125th Anniversary in the summer via a letter penned by Town of Raymond Mayor Bryce Coppieters.
Council’s letter stated that MP Motz and MLA Hunter are welcome to attend the pancake breakfast on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 8 a.m. the Raymond’s Got Talent event at Victoria Sports Park on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 and they are also welcome to participate in the Rotary Parade on July 1, 2026 at 10 a.m.
In their letters to MP Motz and MLA Hunter, Council invited both politicians to attend what events they can, but they especially encouraged attendance at the Raymond’s Got Talent event on June 30, 2026 and also invited them to serve as a guest judges and offer commemorative remarks.
“Our 125th Anniversary is a significant moment in Raymond’s history, and it would mean a great deal to our residents to have you join us in celebrating the community’s legacy and future,” said Mayor Coppieters.
Mayor Coppieters concluded the letters to both politicians with the request to let the Town of Raymond know if they are able to attend any of the events, and also thanked them for their continued support of the community.
Council reviewed the proposed letters via a discussion, amended it to also include a letter to be Premier Danielle Smith, extending the same invitation.
Councillor Stewart then made a motion to approve sending letters to MP Motz, MLA Hunter, and Premier Smith to invite them to the July 1, 2026 festivities this summer, and the motion was carried.
