Magrath is moving on in the high school baseball playoffs.
The Zeniths claimed a victory in Tuesday night’s winner-take-all playoff game in Lethbridge against the Raymond Comets. Magrath struck for three runs in the bottom of the first and cruised home from there, as the Zeniths earned a 9-4 victory.
The Zeniths plated two more in the bottom of the second to take a 5-1 lead, as Magrath added one more in the fifth and tacked on three more in the sixth.
Sam Noad paced the Magrath attack, as he went 2-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Paycen Blackmore and Dustin Roe also had two hits each, while Nate Dick drove in two runs for the Zeniths.
Blackmore, John Jones, Taylor Cook and Jaxon Gruninger drove in one run each.
Cook worked six innings for the win, as he gave up one earned run on eight hits, five strikeouts and one walk. Jones gave up two earned runs in his one inning on the mound, on two hits, one strikeout and two walks.
For Raymond, Jeter Heggie, Ty Mazutinec, Dillon Schultz and Boston Harker all had two hits each, as Raymond finished in double digits in hits. Ethan Anderson drove in two runs for Raymond.
On the mound, Brody Zaremba threw a complete game, as he worked six innings. He was charged with six earned runs, as he struck out four and walked four.
The season continues for Magrath, as the Zeniths took on Catholic Central last night (score unavailable at press time).
A win in the Wednesday-night game would put Magrath in the league final, which will be played Friday at 7 p.m. in Lethbridge.
