The Raymond Comets senior girls basketball team kicks off the 2018/2019 season with a trip to Taber tonight.

Southern Alberta’s defending zone champions visit the W.R. Myers Rebels to kick off a new Southern Alberta High School Basketball League campaign, which will include another full schedule.

Following tonight’s game, Raymond will finish the 2018 portion of the schedule with a Dec. 12 home game against Winston Churchill, a Dec. 19 trip to Lethbridge to face Catholic Central and a Dec. 20 journey to Medicine Hat to tangle with the Kwahommies.

Raymond’s extended Christmas break will see the team not take the court again in league play until Jan. 9.

The Comets hope to build upon a 2017/2018 season which saw Raymond capture the zone championship, and enter the Alberta Schools Athletic Association provincials as the No. 4 seed.

Magrath’s Pandas also have high hopes for the new season, but will have to wait until next week to tip off in league play.

The Pandas open the SAHSBL season Dec. 12 with a home game against Catholic Central. On Dec. 20, Magrath will host Cardston.

The team’s holiday-season league break will extended to Jan. 9, when Magrath is set to take on Catholic Central in Lethbridge.
