Magrath and Raymond teams gear up for final games before Christmas break

The Central Alberta Hockey League season rolls on, as teams get games in before the Christmas break.

In U11 play, Raymond had two weekend games, which started with a 9-7 loss to Irvine on Saturday. Cooper Rodeback and Stetson Nelson both recorded hat tricks, while Klay Koopmans had a goal and an assist. Houston Hill also added a helper. Jordan Schmidt was in net for Raymond.

On Sunday, Raymond skated to a 7-5 win over Vauxhall. Rodeback scored four times and Tripp Durfey added two. Koopmans had a goal and an assist and Clay Nelson and Beau Salmon each had two-assist games. Hill and Max Walburger had assists, and Remington Jardine collected the win in net.

Magrath’s U11 squad faced off against Foremost on Saturday and fell to defeat by a score of 6-3. Carter Juhasz scored twice and Andrew Woolf added a single. Tymen Allsop was in between the pipes.

U13 play saw Raymond fall to Brooks in a tight 4-3 contest, as Tanner Wells scored twice and Kraden Heath added one. Carter Harris had two assists and Kylan Blackwater added a single helper. Kalani Purcell was in goal for Raymond.

The Magrath U15 team was off last weekend, and will take on Brooks on Saturday at home in a 4:30 p.m. contest. Magrath is currently 4-0-1 in the CAHL’s Tier 3 Blue Division.

In the U18 division, Magrath earned a 5-2 win over Vulcan on Saturday. Rushton Ripley had two assists and Gage Nelson, Kyson Johnson, Merek Neilson, Cruz Johnson and Ross Ravoy all scored one goal each to pace a balanced Magrath attack. Rigin Smith, Adam Chipman, Ty Godlonton, Logan Jensen and Blake Roe all had one assist each. Conner Schneyder was solid in goal and picked up the win.

On Sunday, Magrath’s offence came to play in a 10-4 win over Okotoks. Roe had three goals and two assists and Nelson picked up four helpers. Cruz Johnson and Knox Tame both scored twice, while Beckham Sugai had a goal and an assist. Smith and Luke Rodeback added one goal each. Jensen, Neilson, Cooper Godlonton, Joseph Noad, Rushton Ripley and Paislee Loose all had one assist each. David Powell Ford Jr. was in goal for Magrath.

In other action on the ice, the U9 Magrath Chiefs played the Cardston Thunder this past weekend. Magrath came away with an 11-0 victory. Scoring for the Chiefs was Liam Stanford with four goals and one assist. Charlie Christensen had one goal and one assist. Dillon Juhasz and Nik Wood each scored once, and Landon Perks and Nathan Wilde collected one assist each. Raylan Owens had a shutout in goal.
