Magrath and Raymond hockey teams complete busy weekend schedules

Central Alberta Hockey League teams in Magrath and Raymond continued the 2024 of the schedule with a slate of weekend games.

At the U11 level, Raymond picked up a 5-3 win on Saturday in a game against Taber. Cooper Rodeback had two goals and Max Walburger added a goal and an assist. Stetson Nelson and Klay Koopmans also scored, as Tripp Durfey and Beau Salmon added assists. Remington Jardine made 19 saves for the win in goal.

Raymond then picked up a 7-4 win on Sunday over Pincher Creek. Rodeback led the way again, as he recorded a hat trick. Koopmans scored twice and Nelson had a goal and an assist. Durfey had the other Raymond goal, while Walburger and Brixden Manning had assists. Jordan Schmidt made 18 saves and picked up the win.

In U13 play, Raymond dropped an 8-1 decision to Okotoks in a Saturday game. Nixon Sommerfeldt scored the lone Raymond goal, assisted by Kraden Heath. Kalani Purcell faced 47 shots on goal in net for Raymond.

On Sunday, Raymond faced Okotoks again and ended up on the wrong side of a 6-4 score. Trigger Heggie scored twice, while Carter Harris had a goal and an assist. Jack Patrick Salmon had two assists. Sommerfeldt also scored for Raymond. Purcell faced 36 Okotoks shots in the contest.

Magrath’s U15 team had one game on the weekend, a 5-2 victory over Medicine Hat on Sunday. Easton Fraser put up two goals in the contest and both Beau Beier and Tason Heath recorded a goal and an assist. Clayton Michel had the other goal, while Nixon Roe and Bronson Ripley had assists. Kohlman Blackmore made 30 saves to record the win as the goaltender of record for Magrath.

At the U18 level, Magrath played lockdown defence in a Saturday game, as the team skated off the ice with a 2-0 win over Pincher Creek. Conner Schneyder recorded the 18-save shutout and Magrath got goals from Ty Godlonton and Adam Chipman. Gage Nelson and Clay Christensen had one assist each.

The U9 Magrath Chiefs played the Cardston Thunder on Saturday and defeated them by a score of 15-0. Scoring for the Chiefs was Cooper Seward with five goals and Liam Stanford with three. Charlie Christensen and Kolten Baldwin each scored twice while Maverick Retzer, Raylan Owens and Lukas Quapp all notched singles. Cody Beier completed the shutout in goal.
