Magrath U18 team continues its winning ways

Central Alberta Hockey League action heated up on the weekend, as teams continue to make a push for the playoffs.

Magrath’s U11 squad played a Friday game at home against Cardston, and fell by a score of 4-3 in a tight contest. Payke Bates had a goal and an assist to pace the attack, while Gibson Bates and Carter Juhasz had single markers. Tymen Allsop made 25 saves in net for Magrath.

In the U13 division, Raymond had two weekend games, which started Saturday with a 6-6 tie to Fort Macleod. Tanner Wells had two goals and one assist for Raymond, while Checotah Many Grey Horses, Nixon Sommerfeldt, Eddie Little Shields and Trigger Heggie all recorded one goal each. Carter Harris, Hayes Hill and Brixton Crow Chief had assists. Kalani Purcell was in goal for Raymond.

On Sunday, Raymond skated to another tie, this time a 3-3 draw against Lethbridge. Kraden Heath had a goal and an assist and Hill added two assists. Harris and Sommerfeldt had one assist each. Purcell was in goal once again.

The U15 schedule had Magrath visit Brooks on Sunday. The visitors found the going tough as Magrath fell 5-1 in the contest. Ryder Harrison had the lone goal for Magrath, assisted by Beau Beier. Ashton Jensen was in goal for Magrath.

Magrath’s U18 team continues to lead its division with an 8-1 record in Tier 3 play, as the team had another successful weekend with an 11-2 win over Foothills on Saturday. Blake Roe led the attack with three goals, while Adam Chipman and Rushton Ripley both had three-assist outings. Gage Nelson, Ty Godlonton and Cruz Johnson all had two-goal games as well, while Makoy Mehew chipped in with a goal and an assist. Clay Christensen had two assists in the game. Gunner Sloan added one goal and single helpers were credited to Joseph Noad, Ross Ravoy and Beckham Sugai. David Powell Ford Jr. was in goal for Magrath, as he made 28 saves for the win.

The U9 Magrath Chiefs played the Pincher Creek Huskies on Saturday and won 4-1. Scoring for the Chiefs was Davyn Gillam, Charlie Christensen, Cooper Seward and Cody Beier, who all notched one goal each. Raylan Owens allowed one goal on 15 shots.
