Chiefs go 2-1 in Fort Macleod tournament

Magrath’s U9 Chiefs team had the season roll on in Fort Macleod at a tournament this past weekend.

In game one the Chiefs won 14-1 against the Cardston Thunder.

In the team’s second game, the Chiefs lost in a nail biter to the Lethbridge Grizzlies 6-5. Game three saw a victory over the Fort Macleod Mavericks 6-1.

 Raylen Owens was in net for all three games.

Game MVP went to Cody Beier in game one, Liam Stanford in game two and Raylen Owens in game three. Scoring for the Chiefs was Liam Stanford with seven goals on the weekend and Cody Beier with six goals one assist. Davyn Gillam had four goals, Cooper Seward had three goals and one assist and Kolten Baldwin had two goals and one assist. Maverick Retzer had two assists and Nathan Wilde, Charlie Christensen and Nik Wood all scored single goals. Coby Noad had one assist.

Magrath’s U11 team took a 6-3 decision over Foremost on Saturday. Gibson Bates had two goals and Payke Bates added a goal and an assist. Carter Juhasz, Weston Odland and Braeden Stanford had the other Magrath goals. Grayson Owens, Kacey Blackmore, Ty Mehew and Heagan Mohr had single assists. Tysen Allsop was in goal.

In U15 play, Magrath fell 4-1 in a Friday matchup against Fort Macleod, as Beau Brier had the lone goal. Kohlman Blackmore was in goal for Magrath.

The team rebounded on Saturday with a 7-4 victory over Redcliff. Easton Fraser recorded the hat trick and Beier added a goal and an assist. Tason Heath and Colton Olson had two assists each, while Levi Harker, Lilly Rodeback and Clayton Michel all scored once. Bronson Ripley added a helper. Ashton Jenson turned aside 40 shots to record the win in goal.

Magrath’s U18 team continues to lead its division with a 9-1 record after a Saturday win over Vulcan, by a score of 3-1. Beckham Sugai led the way with two goals and one assist, while Cruz Johnson had two assists. Rushton Ripley had a goal and both Logan Jensen and Rigin Smith had assists. Conner Schneyder earned the win in goal.
