Magrath and Raymond teams busy on ice in CAHL action

Teams are hitting the homestretch as the Central Alberta Hockey League chugs on into February.

In the U11 division, Raymond skated to a thrilling 9-9 tie with Medicine Hat on Saturday, as Cooper Rodeback led the way with three goals and one assist. Houstin Hill had two goals and one helper, while Tripp Durfey had two goals. Beau Salmon had two assists and Stetson Nelson and Brixden Manning added one goal each. Max Walburger also picked up an assist, while Remington Jardine was in goal.

On Sunday, Raymond could only muster three goals in a 7-3 loss to Lethbridge. Rodeback scored all three Raymond goals, and Hill added two assists. Jordan Schmidt was in goal.

Magrath’s U11 team began the weekend with a 3-1 loss to Cardston. Brody Koci had the lone goal, set up by Gibson Bates. Tymen Allsop was in goal for Magrath.

The team rebounded with a 9-3 win on Sunday over Fort Macleod. Gibson Bates had four goals and one assist and Carter Juhasz notched a hat trick. Payke Bates and Kacey Blackmore both had one goal and one assist. Maxwell Harker, Kashton Johnson, Brody Koci, Weston Odland and Chase Ririe all had one assist each. Allsop was in goal.

Raymond’s U13 team dropped a 5-1 decision to Brooks on Saturday. Nixon Sommerfeldt had the lone goal, assisted by Kraden Heath and Tanner Wells. Kalani Purcell was between the pipes.

On Sunday, Raymond skated to a 4-4 tie against Medicine Hat, as Wells led the way with a goal and an assist. Sommerfeldt, Trigger Heggie and Kyland Blackwater had the other goals, while Hayes Hill and Eddie Little Shields had assists. Purcell made 37 saves to preserve the tie.

Magrath’s U15 team started the weekend right with a 7-3 win on Saturday over Lethbridge. Easton Fraser had a big game with three goals and one assist, while Beau Beier had three helpers. Ryder Harrison and Cohen Brady Michel each had a goal and an assist, while Tason Heath and Taza Rea Powelson picked up single markers. Lily Rodeback added an assist. Ashton Jensen made 38 saves for the win.

On Sunday, Redcliff skated to a 5-1 win over Magrath, as Clayton Michel had the lone goal, assisted by Colton Olson. Kohlman Blackmore made 41 saves in the game for Magrath.

Magrath’s U18 continues to lead its division after a 1-1 weekend, which started with a 6-5 loss to Nanton. Blake Roe had a goal and an assist to pace the offence, as Ty Godlonton, Cruz Johnson, Ross Ravoy and Knox Tame also scored. Gage Nelson, Adam Chipman, Rushton Ripley, Makoy Mehew and Rigin Smith added assists. David Powell Ford Jr. was in goal.

Saturday, Magrath rebounded with a 5-1 win over Vulcan. Ripley had a goal and an assist, as Ravoy, Smith, Roe and Beckham Sugai all had one goal each. Tame, Gage Nelson, Paislee Loose and Logan Jensen had assists. Conner Schneyder was in goal.

Magrath’s U9 Chiefs played the Raymond Knights on Saturday and lost a tough one 5-4.Scoring for the Chiefs were Liam Stanford with a hat trick and Cooper Seward with one goal. Raylen Owens was in net.
