2024 Football League registration in Magrath

The registration deadline for Magrath Minor Football is Friday, September 6.

“The kids in our community and our community members love football and want to play and watch. It was brought here for our kids and for our community,” said Kristyn Barfuss, a member of the Magrath Minor Football Board.

Barfuss says that there are three different categories for Minor Football: Bantam, Peewee, and Atoms and the Minor Football League has been in Magrath for over 20 years.

Bantam, Barfuss says, is open to those who were born in 2010 and 2011, but NOT in grade 10 and those who are interested in registering for Bantam can sign up at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScjOwi94HSthmDB81FZxif-IrV_jItyg5W6j9tQnf2Lqyy6tw/viewform. The registration fee for Bantam, Barfuss says, is $260 and the late registration fee is $300.

Peewee, Barfuss says, is open to those who were born in 2012 and 2013, and those who are interested in registering for Peewee can sign up at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfRdez8MJEIgB9-1hwvt_j4m0WHAswtEXjTpUvB5FStOXS0Kg/viewform. The registration fee for Peewee, Barfuss says, costs $230 and the late registration fee is $270.

Atoms, Barfuss says, is open to those who were born in 2014 and 2015, and those who are interested in registering for Atoms can sign up at:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfRGMinKZ_CIdq7xMKAU2TwJUm6zcvmJ3X379qSqfy0tiBtMg/viewform. The registration fee for Atoms, Barfuss is $210, and the late registration fee is $250.

Barfuss says that the equipment deposit must also be paid before players get their equipment.

Barfuss says that both practices and games will be a part of the season that will go from the end of August to the beginning of November for the Bantam team and until October for the Peewee and Atoms teams. 

“Our program has been growing every year and we have had so much success in winning over the past years,” said Barfuss. “We have many great coaches and those willing to help. We have had teams win league and also Bantam provincials in the past. We have been working hard over the last couple years with fundraising and getting grants to get lights put up on the field. We have got a couple grants and found out a couple weeks ago that we got a big one that will be enough for us to get the lights. So, we are working on that right now and hoping to get them up in October and be able to use them for the end of this season. The community has been very supportive of football for many, many years here and still continues to be.”
